Canadian Weddings
Looking for feedback on your experience in getting married in Canada. My future husband and I are planning to get married in British Columbia or Alberta next year. We are not looking for a wedding/reception venue, as we will be celebrating our receptions in Australia and United States. We are looking for feedback (positive / negative) on marriage commissioners and locations where we can do our nuptials. It will be a small wedding party (four people, the 2 of us and our 2 witnesses). First thoughts were Lake Louise (Alberta) or somewhere on Victoria Island. Open to other suggestions.Ideas? Thoughts? Comments?

Congratulations!
Congratulations! Randy and I married in Montreal in a wedding even smaller than yours: just us, the Justice of the Peace and two witnesses borrowed from the wedding license department. Montreal is an amazing, beautiful, wecloming city. The "Gayborhood" there is huge and offers every flavor of LGBT entertainment on the planet. Be aware that in Quebec, you must post your wedding announcement two weeks in advance in a public place in a courthouse, a requirement that we were able to satisfy with the help of a sweet lady in the license bureau and a whole lot of expensive legal mumbo jumbo. But I wouldn't recommend the hassle. I understand that the other provinces do not have that requirement. That said, I suggest an approach and some resources. The approach: plan a fabulous vacation for yourselves and make your wedding choices around it. Second, go to the wedding resources tab above and look through the listings for services you will need. These folks support GayRites.NET and we hope you'll suport them. Also, visit our good friends at GayWeddings.com who have the be-all and end-all list of LGBT-friendly vendors through their association with The Knot. Best wishes for a long and happy life together.
