My partner and I got a commitment ceremony this summer in Greece. We couldn’t get a marriage license since gay weddings are not legal in Greece so we decided to take care of all the paperwork in the UK and pretend that our real wedding is in Greece. This was what we both wanted, an island wedding with the sea and sun in the background of our photos. Since we had never been to Greece before we found a wedding planner who helped us organize everything. She was just brilliant! We found her on the internet and asked her if she could take care of our ceremony since her website only had photos of straight couples and she was very excited to work with us. We described how we wanted our special day to be and she made it happen exactly as we had it in our minds. She booked a private terrace for us in one of the most beautiful places in Santorini, she made a moving speech in the beginning of the ceremony and then we exchanged our vows. We had 4 guests with us who were very happy to attend, we had the most wonderful photos and all of us are going back next year for our one-year marriage anniversary! For anyone who is planning to have a destination ceremony we would definitely recommend her since she made everything so easy for us. It’s difficult to find someone that will grasp your exact feelings and our wedding day was very important for us. The next day of the wedding we went on a donkey ride which was hilarious, I just had to mention this! If you go to Santorini don’t forget to go on a sunset cruise as well. When I met Ronald in a field trip 3 years ago I never thought that we would end up being together for so long let alone being married and being so happy. I wish that everybody could be as happy as we are.
