LGBT ORGANIZATIONS URGE COUPLES MARRYING IN CALIFORNIA TO "MAKE CHANGE, NOT LAWSUITS"

New York, NY – Four lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) legal organizations and five other leading national LGBT groups issued a statement entitled "Make Change, Not Lawsuits."
The statement explains that while couples who go to California to marry should ask friends, neighbors and institutions to honor their marriages, they generally shouldn't file lawsuits to have their marriages recognized.

January 24, 2025 - On Saturday, Jane Wilson and Darla Schwartz will get married in front of their 28 guests at a church in their hometown Stockton, California. Their wedding will however attract some extra attention, since it will be the one-millionth gay marriage in the US.

This article, from the January 24, 2007 Lancaster PA Intelligencer Journal reports on a Federal Judge's ruling against anti-gay street preachers who tried to disrupt an LGBT event in 2005. Larry Stengel, the Federal Judge who made the ruling, a conservative Republican and (as far as I know, a devout Catholic) was a high school classmate of mine who played ***in to my Mr. Bumble in our high school's production of Oliver! in 19 ... well, a long time ago! Thanks, Larry and I hope to see you again at our 30th reunion ... sooooo many years from now ...
